Before making a significant investment in development, an MVP enables you to test your idea with limited resources, assisting in the understanding of user needs and the improvement of your product. We’ll delve into the key components of building an MVP and outline the prerequisites for a productive development process in this article.

1. Perform Market Analysis

For an MVP to be effective, it is essential to understand your target market. To differentiate your product/service, identify your competitors, evaluate their advantages and disadvantages, and do in-depth market research. Your feature set and product’s unique selling point (USP) will be improved at this point.

2. Set Your Objectives and Vision

It’s critical to establish your MVP’s vision and goals before beginning development. Define your target market, describe the problem your product seeks to answer, and set up key performance indicators (KPIs) to gauge its effectiveness. The development process will be guided by this clarity, which will also keep you concentrated on providing value.

3. Determine Key Elements

Once you have a clear vision and insights into the market, determine the essential elements that will help your users with their main problems. Sort features into priority lists according to how they will affect the problem’s resolution and how quickly they can be developed. Your MVP should be built around these specifications.

4. Wireframes

Develop a user flow that describes the stages a user will take within your product to map out the user journey. Create wireframes to see how important screens will interact and be laid up. This procedure guarantees that the MVP’s design is in line with your vision and aids in the improvement of the user experience (UX).

5. Technical Specification

A thorough technical definition outlining the architecture, technologies, and frameworks to be used should be given to your development team. Data models, APIs, and any necessary third-party integrations should all be clearly defined. Technical specifications that are well enumerated tend to expedite the development process and reduce ambiguity.

6. Test & Re-Test

To get input on the user interface and overall experience, test the usability of the product with actual people. Based on the knowledge gathered from testing, iterate.

Types Of MVPs

Landing page MVP

The Fake Door

Demo video MVP

Single Feature MVP

Concierge MVP

Piecemeal MVP

Developing an MVP is a calculated approach to product development that helps entrepreneurs reduce risks and validate concepts. You may provide the groundwork for a successful MVP launch by outlining your goals, carrying out in-depth market research, identifying key features, creating wireframes and user flows, drafting a technical specification, giving scalability first priority, and carrying out extensive testing. Remember that the secret to a successful MVP isn’t just in its creation but also in the continuous iteration that follows, which produces a polished and ready-for-market product based on user feedback.

Symatech Labs is a Software Development company based in Nairobi, Kenya that specializes in Software Development, Mobile App Development, Web Application Development, Integrations, USSD and Consultancy.

Modern software development paradigms make a lot of use of APIs and SDKs. We live in a world that is more connected than it used to be. Apart from people being able to communicate with each other more intimately than they used to (video/audio calls, emails), different systems also communicate with each other much more than they used to. An example is a user making a ticket purchase to an event using mobile money. You will notice that the mobile money service is run by a different system/company and the ticketing service is run by another system/company, but ultimately the two will have to communicate. In a way, both concepts (API and SDK) overlap and are somewhat interrelated.

What is an SDK

The word SDK stands for Software Development Kit, SDKs can be looked at as a carpenter/workman’s toolkit that contains the various parts they use.

Sample tool kit, image from Skygarden

Different manufacturers have different parts in their toolkits, the same also applies to SDKs. A basic SDK will include:

Debugger

Compiler

Drivers

APIs

Libraries

Documentation

Development environments

Testing and analysis tools

Some SDKs will include test projects/code snippets to allow developers to make quick references, for example how to take a photo from an Android device or an iOS Device

What is an API

API is an acronym for Application Programming Interface. It can be looked at as a connection between different software modules to allow for message passing. APIs contain specifications of how the communication is to occur.

Consider an API to be like a restaurant’s menu. The menu includes a list of available dishes as well as a description of each item, i.e. their prices. When you pick the dish(es) you want from the menu, the restaurant’s kitchen prepares them for you. You don’t have to know how the restaurant cooks the food, all you care about is the food being delivered to you on time and in the manner advertised on the menu.

A good example is the Safaricom M-PESA API (find a project on Github we did that enables developers to invoke the M-PESA STK functionality) that allows software developers integrate their system with the mobile money service.

Another example is an API inteface by the Kenya Revenue Authority to allow registered taxpayers (B2B, B2C, and B2G) to submit their invoice details to KRA by generating Electronic Invoices (E-Invoices) and sending the same to the Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS). There’s a deadline set for the compliance requirement, which is on the 31st of July 2022.

Symatech Labs is a Software Development company based in Nairobi, Kenya that specializes in Software Development, Mobile App Development, Web Application Development, Integrations, USSD and Consultancy.

Each month, new cryptocurrencies get released, and these new tokens and coins are accompanied by a series of initial coin offerings (ICOs). Despite the fact that cryptocurrencies were pummeled in 2018, the interest among a broad pool of investors in these options has grown. Scammers are attracted by all of these reasons. After all, if investors are prepared to put money into a highly speculative cryptocurrency, they appear to be equally eager to put money into fraudulent tokens or ICOs. The following are some of the pointers one can use when assessing the viability of a coin or token.

1. Team

Who are the creators of the project? This is probably the most important consideration an investor should make. Personalities infer how authentic a project is. If, for whatever reason, you do not like what you see, chances are that you should not invest. An example I would give is of a pastor, who might have used his religious following to get investors to engage with his project dubbed Nurucoin that has since been determined to be a rug pull.

2. Token sales

During fundraising, any ICO will rely on some form of currency system. Legitimate projects make the token sale’s progress transparent for everyone to see. As the ICO progresses, keep an eye on the token sale figures. Better yet, keep an eye on the token sale over time to observe how it spurs. In some cases, the project owners deliberately make it a daunting task for anyone to follow the progress of the ICO. For any investor, this should be a red flag.

3. Whitepaper

Most if not all of the crypto projects will have a document that explains the technology being used and also the utility or purpose of the project. A whitepaper is basically a written statement on how the project was built, it’s inner workings and the purpose for it’s existence. A lot of technical jargon gets thrown, sometimes with the possible effect of impressing the investors but also to confuse them. You might not understand the terminologies used but you can always look at the fundamentals as Jim Rohn put it Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.

Warren Buffet, an American businessman tried to give his explanation as to why he would not invest in Crypto. His assertion was if he was able to buy 1% of the farmland in the United States he would generate revenue from the yield the farmland would produce. If he was able to buy 1% of the apartments in the country he would generate revenue from the rent earned. What would the Bitcoin generate for him say he decided to buy? In a sense, the value of Crypto is predicated on its price appreciation and what people are willing to pay for it. Not necessarily on the utility it produces.

4. Liquidity pool management

Every time an investor buys a token, they typically swap using well-established cryptocurrencies i.e Ethereum for the coin in a decentralized exchange (DEX). As more and more investors put their Ethereum into the liquidity pool, the price of the coin rises. At a certain point, the scammers then pull the rug by taking the valuable Ethereum and living the investors with worthless tokens.

Project owners can promote such schemes in a variety of ways, including using social media influencers to promote the coin to unsuspecting investors, who are then compelled to invest in the project. It should be noted that this is not an entirely new thing, as in the past we used to have snake oil salesmen who would essentially do the same. The only difference is that it is now taking place in the digital space.

In conclusion, the blockchain is a technological leap forward, but it is important that people get to understand what they are investing in. Regulation is one of the main points that blockchain enthusiasts appear to be against, but it is becoming increasingly necessary as people continue to be scammed.
